Who this policy is from
This policy covers the website published under the name SpecCairn at speccairn.com, written for adults aged 18 and over in the United States. Privacy questions and requests: speccairn@gmail.com.
What the website itself collects
The website is a set of static pages. In its current form it:
- has no accounts, sign-up, comments, uploads, newsletters or contact forms;
- sets no cookies and does not use local storage, session storage or similar browser storage;
- loads no analytics, advertising, tracking, social-media or third-party scripts, fonts or embeds;
- runs no scripts of its own: pages are plain HTML and CSS.
Hosting and server logs
SpecCairn has not added analytics, tracking scripts or cookies to its pages. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes request data as described in its privacy policy.
When you visit, Cloudflare, as the hosting and network provider, processes the technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time of the request. Cloudflare handles this under its own policies; see the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Cloudflare may process request logs as described in its privacy policy; SpecCairn has not confirmed whether or for how long Cloudflare keeps request logs for this site. Cloudflare also adds a Network Error Logging instruction to each response, which asks browsers that support it to report failed connections, not successful visits, to Cloudflare; see Cloudflare's Network Error Logging documentation.
Cookies and similar technologies
SpecCairn's own pages set no cookies and use no browser storage. In a check of every page and file of this website on October 28, 2026, no cookie was set. Cloudflare can still set strictly necessary security cookies in some situations, for example when it challenges suspicious traffic; these are described in Cloudflare's cookie documentation.
E-mail, questions and corrections
If you e-mail speccairn@gmail.com, SpecCairn receives your e-mail address, any name you include and the content of your message, and uses them only to reply and to handle your request, including checking a correction report. This mailbox is provided by Google (Gmail), which processes messages under its own privacy policy. Please do not send sensitive personal information.
Who can read your e-mail. The owner of SpecCairn has full access to the mailbox. AI e-mail integration is currently not active. In the future, AI agents may help only with SpecCairn's operational e-mail, such as handling correction reports and drafting replies, and only after the owner separately authorizes an official integration with the e-mail service; the mailbox password is never shared with any agent or person. SpecCairn does not claim that an integration's access is technically limited to particular messages. Before any integration is activated, the owner will confirm that it cannot inadvertently expose children's personal information (see Children), and this policy will be updated to name the provider, which would process the messages it handles under its own terms.
Correction reports. If you report an error, SpecCairn does not publish your name or e-mail address or otherwise identify you, unless you explicitly agree to be identified.
Retention and deletion
The website itself keeps no information about visitors. SpecCairn keeps e-mail correspondence for 12 months after your request is resolved and then deletes it, unless it is still needed for an ongoing follow-up or must be kept longer to meet an applicable legal obligation. Deletion is carried out by the owner following a documented procedure; it is not automated.
- The owner records the date on which each request is resolved; the retention period runs from that date.
- Every month, the owner reviews completed correspondence and deletes what has reached the end of the retention period.
- Deletion covers your messages, SpecCairn's sent replies, attachments and any copies the owner controls.
- A deletion log records when reviews and deletions took place, without any message content.
SpecCairn does not keep hosting logs of its own. Any retention of request data by Cloudflare is described under Hosting and server logs.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare: website hosting and delivery.
- Google: the e-mail service behind speccairn@gmail.com.
- AI processing of visitor e-mail: none at present; only if the owner later authorizes an official e-mail integration as described above. AI-assisted article preparation is described in the editorial methodology; this is separate from processing visitors' messages.
In the current design no other service receives information about visitors, and SpecCairn does not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
Your privacy requests
You can e-mail speccairn@gmail.com to ask what information SpecCairn holds about you (normally only your e-mails), or to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. SpecCairn aims to respond within 30 calendar days of receiving your request, subject to applicable law.
Summary of SpecCairn's data practices. The website has no accounts, analytics, advertising or third-party scripts, and its own pages set no cookies (hosting cookies are covered under Cookies and similar technologies). The only personal information SpecCairn receives is what you choose to send by e-mail. SpecCairn does not sell it or share it with anyone other than the e-mail provider that delivers it. E-mail is handled manually by the owner; AI e-mail integration is currently not active. Correspondence is kept for 12 months after your request is resolved and then deleted, and SpecCairn aims to respond to requests within 30 calendar days.
Children
SpecCairn is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It does not intentionally collect personal information from children, and the website has no accounts or age verification. If SpecCairn learns that it has received a child's personal information, for example in an e-mail, the owner handles it by hand: access is restricted to the owner, the information is not used for marketing or processed with AI tools, and it is deleted promptly, according to applicable law and any legal obligation to keep it. A record of the action is kept without the child's personal information. Nothing is detected or deleted automatically.
Advertising, affiliate links and future changes
The website currently contains no advertising and no affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure). If advertising, affiliate links, analytics or any other service is added in the future, this policy will be updated before that change takes effect, including what the new provider may collect (for example, a retailer can set its own cookies after you follow a link to its site).
